Well shoot, I meant to post this thread in the Apprentice Corner. I figured I might be able to help a guy or two over there. I didn't mean to put this idea in front of the whole board <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//blink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> It feels like a grade school kid walking into a room full of college professors and asking if they'd like to get some learn'n! <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//ohmy.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//huh.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Sorry about that! <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//sad.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

On the other side of the coin, I sincerely appreciate the kind words of encouragement!!! <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> That means the world to me. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

And those are great ideas! I actually have done quite a few framed handles and wire wrapped handles, but they were quite some time ago and would definitely not be up to my current standards and surely not Ms level work! So I suppose it is about time. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

***** I should have prefaced the original post by saying that I have some orders to finish and some more work on the shop to finish before I should take on a WIP... but I would really like to do another one and thought getting some ideas now would give me a chance to try to think one through before getting started.

Thanks guys!!! <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Nick,

Whips on the various styles of guards. How to lay then out, grind and finish them would be most helpful!

Thanks for offering to help!

Bob

Hey I'd be up for any of the before mentioned WIPS. But what I'd really, really like too see is a WIP on the forging of a bowie in W2 with how you get those fantastic hamons without clay? PLEASE <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//rolleyes.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Cheers Keith

Hey fellas- <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Sorry for the delayed reply- my life has been really crazy this past year and I hadn't kept up to speed here. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//unsure.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I am in the middle of a big knife project (big by my standards that is! LOL) and I've been taking videos of the entire process.

I don't know if it will be okay with the bosses around here, but if it is and there is any interest, I would be happy to post them here. Or try to and then need Dan to come in and rescue me! <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//blink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//laugh.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Thanks guys! <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//cool.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />

OK, Nick. It's like 4 months later and still no WIP here. I understand the lack of desire to do something as complex as the MS quillon dagger for this arena, so I have a suggestion that would probably work well for the forum and maybe address some of what Lin was aiming at. Here is my suggestion:

A knife of any size you choose with a frame handle and mother of pearl inlays in the scales.
