Hi all,
I have recently acquired an old, very heavy, pipe threading machine. I am curious to see what methods you have all used to create jigs to hold your damascus while twisting. I'm pretty keen on the idea of using sockets for adjustable fit up, but hoping to see pictures of how others have actually put systems together before I start working on mine.
Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
Matt
I use 8 pt. impact sockets in mine. I can twist a wide variety of sizes and only need to forge the ends square.
I have various videos on my you tube channel showing this.

Hi Karl,
Thanks for your comment. I did locate one of your videos and your set up is what I'm leaning towards at the moment, it a very straight forward, elegant solution. My machine has an existing carriage and slide so I will need to set it up a little different. I am hoping someone has a similar set up I can see, so I can modify the different systems into something that will work for me.
Are you able to twist in both directions on your machine? Mine currently only spins forwards but it seems it can be modified to do both.
Cheers,
Matt
Yes - my Rigid has forward and reverse.
