I'm going to be purchasing Uncle Al's 24 Ton Press in a couple months. I prefer to order everything at once. My question is about dies.

What would you say a good set of dies would be? (i want to be pattern welding. As well as mosaic using box tubing)

Thanks guys. I have no real idea about forging presses. I just want to order most of what i would want in one go instead of many things over the next few months.

I have that press from Uncle Al. I just use the dies from Al. I have his flat, ladder, texas wind, and a set of combo dies I made by cutting a piece of 1-3/4" O1 drill rod in half and a set of flat steel from 4140. I use the flat dies for almost everything that come with it and the others get used rarely.

thanks for your reply!

so here is a question for you about the regular dies that came with it. I have been careful to keep an eye on the heat of the piece, but my dies got pretty ate up the first day. is this normal on a press?
