Evening everyone. Thought you might like to see my new anvil, well new to me. We picked this up at the Branson Hammer In, along with help. The only marking I can find is a "W" underneath the heel. The face is 20"x 4 3/4" and the weight is right near 305 lbs. I built the stand out of 2'x10's in alternating layers. Yes it is extra tall, but then so am I. I can also adjust height by removing or adding layers. I am looking forward to giving it a good tryout.
Best regards

Nice score there Brion. Wish i could find one that big down here for sale
Darn Brion will you build a stepping stool in case you have a guest forger sometime. I am glad you found you a really good anvil.
Hello Billy, yes I may have to. It seems I may have been a bit ambitious. The more I look at it. the more I realize just how much bigger the anvil is than my smaller ones. I am thinking about adjusting the layers to take it down a couple of inches. Thanks Bruce, we just could not pass it up for the price. I enjoyed meeting you at Atlanta and look forward to seeing you next year for the JS.
Best regards

Brion,
That's a good looking anvil. If you can find any other marking on it, I'll look in our book and try to determine the make and possibly the year it was made. Lin
Brion,
You definately got a deal on this one. Actually, I'm glad that you took it as otherwise I would have and am not sure how I would have gotten it from the truck into my shop. It would break my heart for such I beauty to lay where it rolled out of the truck but might break something else if I tried to carry it into the shop by myself.
Hope it works well for you.
Gary
Is there such a thing as "having a case of anvil envy"? I'll bet she's a dream to work on. Looks like it has nice crisp edges and a flat face.

NICE anvil, Bryon!!
305 lbs. Hmmm....I don't suppose that you would be interested in loading it up and bringing it to Kansas to be used for the "Hands on Forging Instruction" at the Heartland Symposium?
Brion;
I am sure you realize by now what a mistake buying that monster was!! The sheer mass of it will draw the heat from your blades in these cool Oklahoma summers, making all of your damascus into crap. Load it up and bring it down to me and I will even let you buy me dinner for taking that thing off your hands.

Well, Mike thank you for the more than generous offer. Since my damascus turns out perfect every time , and the fact that it took a small army to move it, I will have to pass. Dinner we can talk about. Seriously, I did actually think about that being a really big heat sink. Probably have to preheat it in these cold summers. Yes Steve I will just throw it over my shoulder and bring it on up, shouldn't be a problem, after I eat about a thousand boxes of wheaties. Gary you should of seen us trying to get it out of the truck. Took the neighbors former weightlifter son and his dad and me just to move it, thank you for the heads up on it. It should be a real workhorse.
Thanks guys.
