Do any of yall know of a good you tube or online tutorial is for how to make your own DIY power hammer and or hydraulic press?

I have been thinking of getting making one because (for one) it just takes to long hammering out the tang of a knife by hand so I am forced to reduce to cutting out the tang which as you may know, waist a lot of medal.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Jonathan Stanley.

I have this article on building a Tire Power Hammer posted on the ABS Website in the Techniques section:

"Ray Clontz of Charlotte, North Carolina invented the Tire Power Hammer which uses the emergency spare tire and rim, hub and rear axle from a front drive car. It uses a spring and arms linkage similar to a Little Giant power hammer. Call it the Ray Clontz Tire Power Hammer.

As of October 2008, over 325 hammers have been built using this design without problems. Clay Spencer is offering the plans for the building of the Tire Power Hammer in a 30 page booklet which has detailed instructions, parts lists, and diagrams. Contact Clay Spencer at cell 256-558-3658, or write to 73 Penniston Pvt. Drive, Somerville, AL 35670. The plans cost is $30, postage paid."

I just received the plans for the tire hammer. I echo your sentiments. Does anyone know how to find out if anyone is organizing a build-it seminar, or has anyone ever participated in one? I have a friend who does metal fabrication, but it appears you would need someone able to do some precision drilling, squaring, machining of some of the parts to get it right. But I am very interested in finding a way to build one of the tire hammers. Any information or experiences would be deeply appreciated.
