Nicholson files are no longer made in the USA, for those that don't know. The ones produced abroad are crap, period, and so are many of the last ones that were made before they shut down the last domestic plant. Currently the only sources of new premium quality hand files I'm aware of are swiss, german, and rarely french. I've gotten some portugese also, that were very good steel and ht, but the precision wasn't as good.
These are a few new, unused, old stock Nicholson 3 square, 6", double cut, taper, 1/2" wide. USA, from the prime production time of the company before the Apex buyout.
I've got 3, in perfect condition, in original box. I bought a handful, but I decided to pass along a few.
$15+5 for shipping, for all three. This is obviously not even worth my time, so I hope it won't go unnoticed that I'm only trying to share the love. I hate cheap quality files, and I cringe to see people still recommending Nicholson or Simmonds files not realizing how low quality the new stock is. Apparently hundreds of thousands were sold out of the mexico plant that weren't even hardened, and supposedly many of them are only case hardened now. A 6" Grobet 3-Square, by comparison runs approx $20 each.
If I'm out of line posting this stuff here, please let me know. It's not for profit, just in the spirit of community.
