Journeyman Smith Maurice Hunt of Brownsburg, Indiana passed away in September. Maurice had been a member of the American Bladesmith Society since 1998 and earned his Journeyman Smith stamp in 2001. Mike Snyder who was a close friend of Maurice Hunt is assisting Maurice's wife in finding a new home for his shop equipment. I received the below email from Mike Synder and am receiving more information each day on the equipment for sale.

----------------------------------------------------

Dan:

Thanks for your gracious offer to help. Maurice Hunt was a superb knife maker. Jerry Fisk offered to take Maurice into his shop and "round him out", but Maurice's health prevented that from happening. Most of his equipment was the very best available.

--------------------------------------------------------------

This is the list that I have received to date from Mike Snyder and you should contact him about the purchase of the equipment. Below are some photos of some of the equipment available.

There are four large pieces of equipment and a shop full of files, clamps, jigs etc. If at all possible, Diane Hunt hopes to sell the entire package together.

1. Hydraulic press made by Carlisle Metalsmith

2. Hardcore 2X72 belt grinder

3. Evenheat KF 135 heat treat kiln

4. Complete mig welding outfit and complete gas welding outfit (includes steel welding table and large vise).

Contact Information:

Anyone interested in Maurice's equipment should call Mike Snyder at 317-873-6807 (home) or 317 902-3198 (cell) or email [email protected].

The equipment is located in Brownsburg, Indiana, northwest of Indianapolis.

I received the below email from Mike Synder this morning:

Dan:  WE sold the hydraulic press and the heat treat oven. We still have the hard core grinder available: Tru Grit Hard Core (billet model) and the Miller welding equipment as well, which includes a gas outfit, a mig outfit and a welding table.

Again, Dan, thank you for your assistance in this matter.

I just received the below email from Mike Snyder:

Dan:

Thanks to your help, we have sold all of the big equipment.  Ms. Hunt is trying to get on with her life and selling those pieces was a big step forward.
