Hey all, I've made a commitment to buy a couple of nice Fisher anvils from a collection, so I'm getting rid of my large shop anvil. I believe it's a William Foster (as evidenced by the date stamp on the waist), was sold to me as 400lbs, but I think that's a bit liberal. I don't have a scale big enough to weigh it, broke the one I had when I tried, but it's definitely 300+.
It's a tall London pattern with a wide face and the vast majority of the weight over the waist. Face is in good shape, was surface ground at some point I believe, lots of dings (these big old monsters had softer faces than the small ones), but dead flat with no saddle or sway. Makes straightening a breeze. Good rebound, as expected, moderate ring.
Asking $800, firm, willing to trade. Can deliver to the Fall Hammer-in at Haywood, and possibly the Mid America Hammer-in next month.
Fossil Ivory will always get my attention in respect to trades. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//wink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />
Will post pics by request and/or dimensions. Also have a smaller (140lb) Fisher, that I surface ground, with a glass hard face some minor edge damage, that I'll take $350 for.
I'd like to see pics, especially side profile, top to show condition, and name stamp if possible. You can email them or post here. Thanks, Lin
Sent email with large photos Lin.
Hey Javan if you still have the Fisher I would like to see pics of it. Thanks, Barry
Hey Barry, sorry I missed this last week, I was down at Jason's, and didn't use the internet at all (nice reprieve). I'll resize some images and post them today or manana.
If you want larger photos Barry, you'll have to email me. This is the limit of what complies with the image size policies here...
As mentioned, I surface ground the face of this one to dead nuts flat, but it does have some edge damage, which can be ground off.
I'll take $300 for it, which I feel is very fair. You're welcome to come check it out sometime.
