I hope if you are looking for equipment this helps everyone out. As you may have seen, Journeyman Smith, Gene Loro, has passed. His son and stepson are trying to find homes for the equipment in his shop, as they did not become bladesmiths. This is a list of the equipment available. I have been to the shop and seen it, all in working order, Gene was a fine maker and took care of his equipment. The prices we have seen have been pretty good for all concerned. We have pictures available if you want to see them, but we are not going to post them all, contact me at [email protected] and I can send you pictures directly. At the end of the list I have put the contact info for the seller, Jim Loro, you can get pricing from him.

This is a letter we got today from Gene Loro's son.

Hi Cindy and Butch:

First of all I would like to personally thank you for all the help you have provided in helping find homes for my Dad's equipment, My Dad's wish and my hope is that this equipment is going to fellow bladesmiths and blacksmiths that will use this equipment to make knives, axes etc in pursuit of their passions.

My Dad's was very passionate about two things:

1. Making Knives and sharing his experience with other knife makers.

2. Making wine.

He was all in, on the above two passions, purchased excellent equipment and took very good care of his his shop.

I's very excited to see my Dad's wishes starting to be fullfilled though the American Bladesmith and Blacksmith communities. I can think of no better way to honor my Dad.

I encourage your network to come by and see what is actually there, in his shop, and make offers. We need to move this equipment to settle his estate.

Please feel free to call me at any time to discuss offers or questions. If I am not available, please leave a message and I will get back to you. I am located in California and will be returning to Ohio for two weeks beginning the week of Thanksgiving.

I can be reached at 408 313-0502 or by email at [email protected]

My brother, Ron, lives and works about 100 yards from my Dad's house and is very happy to show you my Dad's shop and equipment.

Best Regards,

Jim Loro

update from Jim Loro:

Please see attached inventory list as of 11-18-13.

We are getting quite a few things sold, but there still is a lot of equipment left that we are hoping finds its way to some bladesmiths and/or blacksmiths.

We are at a point now that we need to move most of this out and would like to encourage your following to make offers.

My Dad had 4 buffers grinders that he used all set up with different disc's so we did not have to change anything. Please encourage everyone to consider maybe making an offer for all of them in one lot. These are items 5, 8, 9 and 10. They all come with stands.

I guess we are entering the stage of a "Black Friday" sale for bladesmiths, maybe the first in history...

Again, thanks for all your help.

I know, Dad is looking down on our activity and must be stoked to see all his special equipment ending up in fellow bladesmith's hands.

We have been selling some of his product out of state and shipping the items to them.

We can ship UPS, Federal Express as well as freight for some of the heavier items.

Hope to keep the momentum going.

Thanks everyone. Looks like the Foredoms are gone. Shucks, could have used them in our high school metal works shop. All the best to everyone. Aloha, Phil

I too sent an e-mail on the 12th with no reply. I sent it to Jim Loro asking about some of the large equipment on the list.

He answered mine right away. Was very timely. Check the address...I accidentally added an extra zero the first time.

Wish I had the cash right now the prices are hard to beat anywhere else.

Here is an updated spreadsheet with the open items as of today, 11/20/13. I will update whenever there is a change. I have found many manuals on Dad"s equipment. Item 11, the Vertical mill is an Enco Model RF-30 and I have the Manuel for it as we'll.

Here is the link, in case someone may have interest:
