There are a couple of free websites ut there that work very well and are easy to use.

Mark - "For images within posts there are image posting size rules in effect to keep the image uploads at 1,000 x 1,000 pixels or less and under 500k in file size".

first time I posted anything here I goofed up as well. posted right from phone...........now I down load onto desk top and resize on computer to fit page rules. A simple method that can remove that problem.

One of those photo editors in the thread above (pixlr.com) also has a phone app that lets you resize photos and saves a reduced copy (suitable for posting here) on your phone. So, if you are used to working with just a phone, or do not have a desktop computer, go for the pixlr app.
