Hi Gents

This is a Will & Finck style spear point Bowie. The blade is made from 1080 steel, it's 150mm long, the blade thickness is a tad under 6mm on the ricasso and the overall length is 280mm. The blade was clay covered and quenched and then etched to produce a differential temper line. The hand guard is carbon steel filed and selectively gun blued. There are three coined brass spacers and a filed and gun blued carbon steel bolster. For the handle I wanted something that would look similar to ivory and in the end I settled on holly, it's a beautifully textured wood with a lovely colour, hard and a pleasure to work. The handle has been inlaid with forty nine steel pins which have been gun blued.

The sheath is a double welt style with a single keeper strap and a Sam brown stud. The sheath is dyed golden brown and black with a front panel of python skin.

Thank you for taking the time to look, all comments and critique very welcome.

Cheers

Steve
