Not very often do I have a blade setting around that's not been spoken for but occasionally I'll forge some extra's out and they generally I don't get a guard on it before it's spoken for. This blade hung around long enough for me to get creative on my own so I wanted to try something different. I was in the library and came across a knifemaking book by maker Bo Bergman, who specializes in the Nordic/Scandinavian style so I thought I'd give it a go. I've had a couple large, solid moose crowns laying around which were too large for anything practical so I decided to put one to good use. I also had a customer bring me in an old Frost cutlery Puko style blade that he asked me to complete for him so these are the results of my first attempts at this style of knife. This first knife is a forged ball bearing with a burl walnut handle and moose horn guard and buttcap: http://flic.kr/p/jKZTYP

This is the second knife made with a Frost blade, burl handle and moose horn guard and buttcap: http://flic.kr/p/jL13cc
