Making this knife had a lot of personal meaning for me, and a lot of effort and materials went into it to make it special. Not too long ago my Grandfather passed away, and one of the things that came down to me was a leather hat that didn't fit anyone, especially not my big head. So the idea came to reuse the leather in the handle stack up. The antler crown came from the last buck that my other Grandfather got.

This knife was forged and finished under the excellent instruction of MS Doug Noren.

Specs:

[list]

  • The blade is 5160, edge quenched and triple tempered at 350Ëš
  • 5.1" blade and around 10" overall. Full distal taper.
  • The guard is bronze and black micarta.
  • Antler crown & stacked leather belonged to my Grandfathers

    Hope you guys like it!

I love the knife and the back story. You made a fine looking knife that Scagel himself would enjoy seeing. Great work.

Beautiful knife! Adding the leather from your Grandfather hat is an awesome personal touch. Thank you for sharing.
