This knife is fashioned after a style I remember when I was a kid. It has a stacked handle with layers of African Blackwood, thin (3/16) brown Micarta, and black fiber spacer. The fittings are aluminum as they were then.

The stacked material looked pretty rough at one point.

But it cleaned up ok.

Nice job. I have an old knife that was my father in-law's very similar. It has the aluminum fittings with different colored plastic handle pieces some even a clear plexiglass or? I had fogotten about.

I do not remember it having a damascus blade!! Nice blade. Nice way to spice up an old menory from the past.

Anthony, I used Damascus so no one could say it wasn't forged. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Lin, I love that style. My first handmade knife was made back in the early 70's. The guy made it from a file with brass, leather, antler, leather and aluminum pommel.

Thanks Bob.

I wont be using aluminum very much but this knife called for it. It would weigh too much with stainless. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Very nice touch on a classic Lin. I had one very similar a friend of my great uncle's made way back when. Like Anthony said, it was not damascus though. How did you find the aluminum to work with?

Brion, Years ago someone gave me some plate aluminum of various thicknesses. I believe it was used in aircraft construction. I did run into a tiny pin hole in some of it though so it may not be the super duper stuff but it works well.

Very nice Lin. I have been enjoying your stacked handles. I really like the variant.

There are some knives that, when i finish them, I stay one hour watching them with my smoking pipe, because they are diferent of the satndard style i use to do. And in 99% i think the same :"i must do more like this". Im sure it happened to you something like this with this beautifull knife.

Congratullations for an other great knife, Master.
