My Recent Chopper

Here is recent chopper I have made. It is forged from a round bar of O1. it is 17.5 oal with a 12 in blade. .32" thick. buckeye burl handle with micarta pins.

I like it Kyle. That is a good looking knife and a serious chopper. Do I see some Jason and Adam influence there? Also congratulations on your performance test. Are you presenting in 2015?

Beautiful knife Kyle!

I like how subtle the micarta pins are. It really allows the figure of the burl to show.

I'm curious, how do you make the transition from the forge-finish ricasso to the handle? Is the tang forge-finished as well, or do you grind steps for the handle scales and flatten the tang with the grinder?

Thanks everyone,

Yes I was just telling Jason how much influence he, Adam and Sam had on my designs until I this one. I will be testing in Jun, God willing. Jordan I tapered the tang from the ricasso to the tip of the handle which provided a nice smooth surface to put the scales.

Very nice looking knife, Kyle. Terrific lines. And you could do a lot worse than to take a little inspiration from the likes of Jason, Adam, and Sam!
