Here is the rack of knives I made for the upcoming art showin November. I still have some clean up and sharpening to do, but I needed to get these posted on fb.

The blades are all 1095 and between 5 and 10 inches long. The handles are all natural or stabilized wood.

Very nice knives, Joshua. I'd love to hear more about your damascus pattern on the second one.

Very nice knives, Joshua. I'd love to hear more about your damascus pattern on the second one.

That is what I (and others) call "Scrapmascus" as it is made from cutoffs and scrap pieces from other bars. I try to salvage and recycle material as much as possible. It gives me time to experiment with different techniques and makes me feel like I am closer to the smiths of ancient times who wouldn't waste a piece of good steel under any circumstances.

This particular one is made from the triangular cutouts from an accordion cut W-Pattern bar, restacked back to back and some random pieces of another bar welded to the sides for the edge and spine. I got the shiny lines by adding shims of 15N20 in between the pieces. I thought it might produce a mosaic tile sort of look, but that really didn't happen (at least I don't think it did). This was a pretty small bar once it got all welded back together and the W pattern wound up being spread pretty thin.

All in all I learned some things and wound up with an interesting knife that (hopefully) I will sell at the upcoming show!
