Hello all, I introduced myself and showed one or two pics, but keep forgetting to post some stuff here. This is a sample of my work, I have been mostly stuck doing slab scaled knives to keep the hobby going. I am forging some stuff out these days, and have a couple in process that I hope to post here soon. I am also working on a unique tactical knife for a fellow SWATty...
This is a small utility knife I did, my first forged project as a matter of fact. Didn't have a grinder at this point...
This is a spur knife I did after trying to find a spur that was comfortable to use with gloves on.
This is a camp knife for a customer. Long flat grind tapering to a convex grind at the edge. Polished, light etch, then blued finish on 1095 steel. Differentially hardened. He reports it is holding up remarkably well and has been used for about everything you can imagine... Multi-carry style sheath as well.
Red spacer, olive micarta...
Multi-carry sheath, back side, for a Becker BK-7. Customer's knife, not mine... I would never have grips that ridiculously oversized on anything I own... He requested it be truly ambidextrous. As such, the thumb-break strap is snapped on both sides...
And, last one... This is a 7" recurve fighter I am working on. Only have pictures of the leather sheath and the scales at this point. I am applying a different finish than I have tried in the past and don't have it quite photo worthy yet, lol. I am doing a MOLLE Kydex sheath for the end user, as well as this leather sheath. This was the first time that I have tried an inlay sheath. There are five hidden copper pins under the scales, as well as the two stainless hollow pins. The knife, despite having a 7" blade, has a nice balance. I will post pics when it is done... After this one, I swear off olive micarta for a year... Everyone seems to love the stuff, but I am getting a little tired of it myself... And no more dad-blamed slab sided bushcraft/camp/etc. knives... Need to work on some other skills....
Had to do a little finish remediation due to some spacer coloration issues, etc... The finish didn't want to stay put. Have it sorted now I think and in the works... Here is a randomized grip area I did just in front of the scales. Wanted some sort of grippy area for finesse work with the knife.
Well, cheers, input welcome...
Eric:
Nice work! Thanks for posting it.
I noticed the St. Michael's medal (Patron and Protector of police) and handcuff key right away in one of the photos. After all of these years I still have mine on my key on my key chain.

Eric,
Nice work on the knives and sheaths! Interesting blades.
Dan,
I know what you mean, I've been retired a little over 10 years and my handcuff key is still on my key ring, too!

I hope my first forged knife ends up half as well as yours did.
Very nice work including the leather work your Spur knife or half Karambit was interesting.
I like the look of the spine on your latest work how did you accomplish that texture?
Thank you, yeah, I feel naked unless I always have St. Michael around my neck, and a handcuff key on every keyring I own, (as well as around my neck, behind the belt keeper, tucked in a shoe, in the vest... lol.) I teach officer survival/officer safety as well as defensive tactics instructor and field training officer. I would guess I am a bit paranoid about being locked up with my own cuffs... lol.
The texture was done with a rotary tool. I saw a picture that someone had done on the blade of a leatherman once upon a time, and tried it on the multi-tool that goes fly fishing with me. I found it to be surprisingly slip resistant for what it is... Basically I try to be as random as possible, and like placing a grooved texture area on the back of the blade, I left a little section higher than the surrounding steel to accomodate for it.
Thanks for the kind words. Much appreciated.
