Hey everyone,

I was approached a while back to make a Japanese gardening knife called a hori hori. I made it and posted it and people liked it and I got an order for three more. I finished these up and actually paid for some nice photos. These are interesting knives. They have a curved blade like a shovel, but are longer. Typically they have length markings and serrations, but I'm not there on the serrations part. So this is more of my rendition of what a hori hori is. Very fiddly things to make to keep the blade straight and inline with the handle was very tricky as well as I am finding symmetry is quite difficult. They are all slightly different. Always learning always improving.

Anyhow, some details, the blades are from fresh 5160 bar stock, forged finish and blued. The handles are stabilized and died wood with brass corbys that I stippled and patinated. The sheaths are hand stitched and died veg tan.

Hope you like them!

 Thank you for looking!
