This was commissioned as an outdoor utility knife that could also be used for hunting. This is a bit larger than my typical hunters but the longer blade probably lends itself a bit better for the other utility chores. I made this one tough as nails (tougher actually, as I peeled strips of nails and cut a few in half with it <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//wink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> ) with a stouter than normal edge geometry as it may see some rough use. You can choke up nicely all the way to the heel of the blade and still retain good grip and control with the added traction from the collars. The rounded spine ensures no hotspots when putting pressure down on the spine of the knife with the thumb.

Specs:

Hand forged from 1084 steel and differentially hardened

9 1/4" overall, 5" blade, .220" thick at the ricasso with full distal taper

Rounded spine and ricasso edge

416 Stainless steel collars

Blued and coined spacer

Madagascar Rosewood handle

Stainless steel checkered finial nut

All comments and discussion welcome.
