Hi Guys
This bowie has an 0-1 blade which is 10" long, 1 9/16" wide and 1/4" thick on the spine at the ricasso. It has a slight distal taper, but the knife is still very fast in the hand. The carbon steel hand guard has been forged down towards it's points to reduce it's thickness and give it some shape and then gun blued. The handle has three coined brass spacers and the steel bolster has a filed centre fuller with two tramlines cut in along each edge.
The handle is a Sambar Stag tine which I dyed using Fiebings golden brown leather dye and then sealed with Danish oil.
The butt cap is carbon steel with a hammered surface, filed to match the antler and gun blued. Everything is held in place with a hand made pommel nut.
The sheath is made from natural tanned leather, dyed golden brown and has a panel of Python skin inlayed on the front. The keeper is held in place with a sam brown stud.
Thank you for taking the time to look.
All comments and advice very welcome.

Steve

Thanks for your comments gents, this forum is the home of the Bowie makers as far as I'm concerened and to get positive feed back on your work is very encouraging. This has definitely got a lot of influence from Mr Bagwell. I have made this style a couple of times before but less fancy. I've called it the San Antonio.
All the best
Steve
Beautiful knife!
I really like it. The spacers and file work make it more than just a tool. It's a pretty knife and sheath combo.
I always remember speaking with Jim Jackson a few years ago now and being able to handle a couple of his Bowies and daggers. That moment was inspirational and daunting at the same time. Inspirational, because it made me realise how much I wanted to carry on making knives and daunting, because it showed me the quality of knives produced by a Master Smith and the level I would have to attain if ever I wanted to be part of that genre.
