Hey all, just joined the forums and thought i'd introduce myself and some of my work. I'm relatively new to bladesmithing but I do have a background in sculpture, woodworking, and construction. I am a month away from graduating college at Mass college of art, where I met JD Smith and started to learn knifemaking.

This is the first knife I made there. Never had more fun making anything than I did this knife.

Here is the second knife I made. This ones got a crazier pattern, texas wind into crushed W, cast bronze, antler, and a timber wolf fang embedded in the guard

Very interesting knives. I'm really new to knife making myself, and so I don't have a whole lot in the way of criticism. The fang as a guard is really unusual, though. I like it a lot.

Paul, very nice work and very artistic. I like the combination of materials. That first one I particularly like. Just the combination of damascus and blackwood or ebony. Very classy. One question, how did you attach the scales on that one? Inquiring minds want to know. With JD as a mentor you can't go wrong.

Nice work again.

Brion: I used a milling machine and a lot of patience to mill in the shape about 1/8 of an inch deep on either side of the handle and then I tried my hardest to carve 2 pieces of wood to the same size as what I cut out. They are simply epoxied into place. Pretty simple really, but I don't know how I would have done it without a mill

Also, image has been re-sized. Wont happen again
