Im just messing around because the client really likes Kydex for the tantos I made. I made a traditional sheath, but he also wanted something he could strap to a backpack shoulder strap. My velcro was too long so I started mounting it other places, just to see? I strapped it to my arm and to my surprise, I kind of like this initially.
Anyone ever do this? any drawbacks?

Bob,
Just from my perspective, it would depend on speed and ease for drawing the knife. For me, not knowing the feel of everything, I would want the handle facing down on a bicep draw, just because it seems like an awkward movement pulling up towards the ear. Pulling downward seems like a much cleaner motion. But there may be some more design elements for the sheath in order to make that happen.

its not as bad as I thought, like I said, I was just messing around. I made a normal sheath for it, but I like to experiment. As a diver I always think of the triangle. The customers wanted a father son set they can use for hiking. The sheath is originally intended for a shoulder strap, but it seemed a bit to big. Scout carry felt better, but then I just started strapping everywhere and this really didnt feel too bad. Thus the question.

Guess you'd have to ask client what they carry when hiking. For instance. Putting any type of pack over an arm obstruction is a pain, then removing it the straps get hung up on it. Then add clothing, shirt, jacket etc. Might look tacticool but is it practical
Vic, those are brilliant observations!
