I finished up that wood sheath for a dagger I made last year. It's finally found a new home and I had to get er done!

Bass wood stained and lacquered. Nickel-silver for the whatchamacall them thingys.

Beautiful sheath and knife Mr States. This being your first wood sheath, what was your biggest obstacle and will you make more in the future? I have carved alot of basswood and enjoy the way it works but never made a sheath. Thank you for sharing Mr States

Ronald,

Please. Call me Josh. I appreciate the formality and all, but seriously. It's Josh. If you want to get formal, call me Joshua!

As for the sheath carving, it was pretty easy. I'm the kind of guy who reads post and other articles about these things and takes a lot of notes before I start. The hardest part was getting the correct depth so that when I added the felt, it had a snug fit, but not too tight. I did most of the sanding on a 6x48 belt sander and finished up by hand.

It turned out great for your first one Josh. I have not made any sheaths yet. My grandpa made wood sheaths for alot of his bigger knives ,he would wrap them in leather with brass studs.
