I watched this video last night. An exceptional display of his process.
Thought you might enjoy it.

Great video. He has a lot of good ones, I've learned a ton from him.
That's a wonderful production all the way around. Easy to watch. We need more of this type thing.
Thanks for sharing that Joshua.

I am a very visual person, both for learning and for explaining my ideas. Watching someone work, or looking through a series of photos/diagrams, is far more effective for me than reading the words. Even when I try and explain myself or my process, I find that adding visual aids helps me coordinate my thoughts and get the message across.
Something I noticed in the video that many folks may have overlooked, was the demonstration of normalization. It happens very early in the video, starting at around 35 seconds in. We often tell folks about temperatures or to look for decalescence and recalescence, but it's very difficult to explain what that looks like. So, newer makers kind of guesstimate the process.
Kyle has the ability to douse the lights completely and he videos the 3x normalizing. It shows very clearly what it looks like in darkness. It helps if you slow down the video speed (click the settings cog, playback speed, and choose .5).
For those of you who do not have a thermocouple, or cannot get your shop dark, just get (or make) a chamber or a pipe to hold the blade inside of in darkness. You will be able to see the effect.
