Hello, I'm Elden Cheatham and I'm at the apprentice level in the society. I found this videoclip the other day, while looking for something else on You Tube. After going through the proper channels, I'm able to post it here for you to see. In Argentina, there is a bladesmith who turns out some pretty impressive artisan blades. After receiving a package in the mail one day, he opened it and found that it contained a bag of shards of a meteorite. He set out to make a blade using the results of his attempts to turn those shards into steel. You may find the results surprising. I marveled at the fine blades he produces with some very rudimentary tools and equipment and a very small work space. Having said that, he has better than what I have, as a beginner. Note that he does not wear protective eyewear or hearing protection. I hope you enjoy the clip.

Nice video. Thanks for posting.
I've worked with meteorites a few times but I have never started with small particles like this. The "Campo" & "Gibeon" meteorites will weld fairly easily. Others are near impossible to get to weld. The biggest challenge with them is getting the carbon content to a point where they will harden sufficiently. He obviously knew what he was doing in making the Damascus to get a quality blade.
I enjoyed this a lot.
Thanks,
Gary
