Hello, my question is what should I use to actually put the piece I'm etching into the ferric? I have just been using whatever was handy to dip it in (bent wire, pliers...). I once used a piece of bent copper wire and found the copper color running down the blade I was etching. I have a vertical tank i made of pvc. Thanks for any input.

I use tie wire -- like that used to tie rebar together for concrete work. This can be purchased at just about any hardware store or Lowes, menards, etc. The wire I get has something on it to keep it from rusting so I make sure that I clean the wire as well so I do not contaminate my solution.

I ususally forge out my tangs a little long and drill a hole in the end of the tang for the wire.
