Justin,

Thanks for the input. I actually was thinking about splitting the billet, working the different sections, and then forge welding those sections back together. I may try that. The fuller is something I was also considering after the info from Brian earlier in this thread. Nice to know it will help, so thanks.

No, I haven't finished it yet. I made the bottom fuller as Brian suggested (came out nice), but then I got caught up in grinding another mono-steel blade, and now I'm making another tool...a new platen that should work much better than the factory el-cheapo one on my 2" x 48" Craftsman. I promise I'll post pics of it when it's done.

Cheyenne,

Sorry... I really am, but it's not done yet!!! I went to the Intro to Bladesmith class at Haywood in March and I have been distracted trying to work on the things I learned there ever since. Also working on getting a KMG (a real grinder), which I am ordering this week. I will post pics, and info, as soon as it's done. Thanks for the interest.

Congratulations on the KMG Grinder. You'll love it. It's gotta be in the top 3 or 4 grinders made today. Burr King is another good one.
