I traded a fellow for two T/C muzzleloader barrels. The plan is to make pipe tomahawks from them if possible. Both are magnetic stainless steel. One barrel is from an Endeavor Inline, the other is from a ProHunter inline. Both had the fluted barrels. Both barrels had gone through a house fire. They are going to go back into the fire again. My question is can anyone tell me what stainless barrel steels T/C uses for their inlines ?? Is it 416, 416R, 12L14 ... etc. The tomahawks will have a forge welded carbon steel bit.

Thanks in advance ...

Thanks for getting back to me Matt ....I sent T/C several inquiries about their barrel steels and they wouldn't pass along any information. I also inquired with Getz muzzleloading barrel company as they might have knowledge about barrel steels from their competitors but they refused to answer back. What I do know that the barrels will need to be forged hot as the 416 series of steels can be prone to cracking if not forged at a hot heat. It needs to be hot anyway to make the forge weld take. I have many different carbon steels to use for the bit ... 1075, 1080, 1084, 1095, files, etc. I just need to decide which steel to use. I'm in a forge welding class in March put on by the Brazeal brothers. That will be a great opportunity to get some additional questions answered then really get going on this project.
