After lurking for many years, I have finally joined up! I've been making knives now for about 5 years, until recently most by stock removal. After some good learning time with some good ABS friends here in Canada (Jim Clow mostly) at a hammer-in and subsequent trips, I've begun making damascus and forging as many of my blades as I can. I'm on a one year work assignment in western Canada, and will return to Texas (and more consistent time for knife making) by May or so. Until then, I'll keep learning what I can, when I can. Unlike my brother, I'll not likely make the Texarkana trip, and will thus shoot for JS testing in '16.
Here's the last one I made before I left Texas in March. It isn't my damascus, and it's not forged, but it's one of my best to date. OAL is about 8.5 inches, preban elephant ivory, and stainless hardware:
I look forward to finding my place in the ABS community, and to getting to know more of the great folks that are a part of it.
