Hello folks! I should have done this sooner but I completely forgot about it. My name is Zach Marchetti and I've been a nut for blades for as long as i can remember. At a young age seeing videos of guys in a dirty, dark room hammering glowing metal was like love at first sight. Fast forward a couple decades and I find myself as an adult (by force, not choice <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//tongue.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> ) and able to afford smithing tools. Jump a head another year and I completed the ABS Intro class with JD Smith (who is awesome) up in Maine.
I have traveled the Renaissance Faire Circuits for a few years now, most of which was selling hand made knives and swords for a couple different companies. That only fueled my determination to be where I am today.
I have decided to devote and dedicate as much time and resources that I can muster into making this a career. Over the next year (if not sooner) I plan on finishing up a few dozen knives in hopes to create a respectable portfolio to use to obtain an apprenticeship, as well as learn and hone this fantastic trade.
I want to thank all of you for doing what you do and making all of our lives that much richer.
Cheers!
-Zach Marchetti
P.S. A very special thanks to Dereck Glaser and Nick Rossi of The New England School of Metalwork where I took my ABS Introduction to Bladesmithing in November of 2011 with JD Smith!
