Hello bladesmiths. Confessions first: I'm not a smith, may never be one, but hope to forge a few blades over the winter at a blacksmith/farrier friend's shop. But first I need to heat treat a hunting knife I ground (and ground and ground and ground) out of an old file years ago before I knew to anneal it first. I cruised a lot of videos on youtube, gleaned some information, found some of it to be contradictory, then found the ABS forum. Holy heat treat! You guys know what you're doing! Congratulations on a very friendly, sharing and professional site. If I do nothing more than make that old knife more resilient, it will be well worth the dues.

I'll post my questions about heat treating on the appropriate forum.

Off to buy some canola oil...

Ed
