Hi Guys, I'm new to the forum. I have worked in the hydraulics industry for the last 40 years, 10 of those as a metal fabricator. I have been forging knives for a little over a year. back in the 1980's I made a few metal removal knives. My dad was in the SeaBee's during WW2 and showed me how they made knives in the pacific from old truck spring. The knife wasn't much but it got me interested in the process. I look forward to improving my skill's with your assistance.

Welcome Pat,

I think there is a topic here for folks to share how they got their start. Being ex-Navy, I would be especially interested in hearing more about your "early education". Dan

Welcome Pat!

Your hydraulic and fabrication background will likely serve you well in knife making. What kind of knives do you like?

Have fun and be safe!

Aloha, Phil

Hi Phil, I'm all over the place right now on my likes. Currently I'm making a dog bone Bowie. I don't have any immediate plans to make Damascus but I have already designed a hydraulic forging press. Now to start collecting parts.
