Hi,everyone my name is Tao Wu.

I live in Japan and study steel materials at Tokyo Institute of Technology. I am very interested in making knives and hope to learn more about this here.
I am confused about one thing. I paid the membership bill for one year last night and the money has been transferred from my account, but my membership has not been activated. I would be very grateful if I could get an answer.

Ohayou gozaimasu, I am sure one of the ABS folks on the contacts page will be able to help you: ( I have reached out to Brion Tomberlin before and I believe he pointed me in the direction of the IT help).  https://www.americanbladesmith.org/abs-contacts/

One thing I would suggest is going into your "Membership Account" and making sure you have set up your profile. I seem to remember there being some kind of confirmation that was required on the user behalf when I got started. Membership account is under "My ABS" tab at the top of the page.

On another note, I am very impressed to meet you with your area of study. I was saddened to hear that US Steel sold away from America, but Japan has always had very high standards of steels so I am happy to know it sold to a master of Metallurgy location!

Respectfully
Michael

Michael Samdahl,

Thanks for your advice, I have contacted Brion Tomberlin and hope he could give me some advice.

I'm sorry that my self-introduction is not very clear. I am a Chinese and I am currently living and studying in Japan.
It's morning in Americaw, maybe I can wish you "早上好" which is means good morning in Chinese.

Hope you have a nice day!

Best regards

Wu

Welome Wu.
I am always interested by how people from other cultures make knives, set up their shop, and what their processes are. The ANS forum is a good place to share ideas, ask questions, and learn from other people. Please post pictures of your workshop and your projects.

If you ever want to chat privately, my email address is on my ABS profile page: Member Profile – American Bladesmith Society

Again, welcome to the ABS and the forum.

Nice to meet you!

I have been busy with school recently and have not been to the forum for a long time. I am sorry for replying to you so late.

Unfortunately I do not have a place to make knives at the moment. I plan to have a small knife-making studio in 3-4 years, and I will definitely be excited to post here when I do!

I look forward to more exchanges with you in the future.

Best regards

Wu
