Good morning, Bladesmiths! I've recently become an apprentice member of ABS. The motivation for becoming a member can be traced to three of the members here who've worked very, very hard to "live the code" by passing on the skills of bladesmithing- Lin Rhea, Karl Andersen, and Doug Campbell. I come to this avocation through being a lifelong longbow hunter: that's how I met Lin.
I've got a loooong way to go- but like bowhunting, the joy is in the journey!
I'm not sure if its appropriate so please moderators remove this image but I thought I'd share a photo of what I think is my best work so far.
I've been knifemaking since 2009 but am just beginning to learn forging. Up to this point its been stock removal but no longer! I'm attending ABANA hammer-ins and acquiring skills for moving metal and its really exciting- I've got the bug bad- I know I'm hooked because now when my mind drifts off as I'm driving or having lunch, I immediately daydream about banging red hot steel and making the sparks fly!!!!
Welcome Ray. Good to have you in the ABS and on the forum. Good looking knife, by the way. Any questions you have we will try our best to answer. If you see me at a show say hello.
Welcome again.
