Hi to all you ABS'ers. I tried to introduce myself the other day but I think I got it under the wrong topic. I'm Bill Kirkes and have been a member since the fall of 08. I am retired from the Union Pacific and live in Little Rock. I am a veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Servvice and proud of it! I've always enjoyed doing things with my hands, and I think I have found a home here in the ABS. Everyone is very nice and always ready to share their knowledge with you. I've taken intro to bladesmithing at Old Washington and a couple of classes from individual mastersmiths.
Just passed journeyman in San Antonio so I'm proud of that! I know there is a lot of work and learning ahead. As far the best quality, construction, and beauty of custom forged knives, they are to be found here. No two are just alike and are reknowned the world over!
So it's good to meet everyone (electronicaly), but look forward to meeting all of you at hammer-ins and shows.-Bill Kirkes
Welcome to the forum Bill. I look forward to seeing some of your work. Lots of info shared here. Congrats on your "journeyman stamp".
