Hello my name is Dan Sycalik and I live in Frederick, MD near Bill Moran's Shop.
I have been collecting knives for years and enjoy searching for knives to add to my collection. I recently joined the William F. Moran Museum and Foundation along with the ABS as an Associate/Collector. I enjoy visiting the Moran Shop and watching Jay, Barney Barnes, Ed Clarke, Steve Nuckels and Sidney Barnhart, among others, at the forge. I had my first chance at the forge and am intrigued with forging and aspire to become an Apprentice Smith some day.
I attended the Blade Show for the first time this year and had a fantastic time. I had the great pleasure of meeting so many great knife makers, too many to list, and was dazed by all the wonderful blades. Thank you all for taking the time to chat and special thanks to Josh Fisher and Wess Barnhill for the great hunters I purchased! I saw so many more knives that I would have liked to take home, but I am looking for an anvil and grinder. I am already looking forward to seeing you all at the Blade Show next year.
Cheers,
Daniel J. Sycalik

Dan,
Thanks for the welcome. I noticed you hail from Salida, CO. I lived in Colorado between 89 and 99 and spent 8 years in Elk Falls Ranch in Pine, CO. I miss Colorado immensely, particularly the Fly Fishing and Elk hunting. I fished Cheesman Canyon on South Platte River a lot, but enjoyed many days fishing the Caddis hatch on the Arkansas. I always liked knives as a kid but my custom knife collection began with a couple of purchases at Gun shows in Colorado. I look forward to meeting you some day.
Cheers,
Dan
Welcome Dan
