I have lived in Nashville my whole life and was a pipe fitter for years , I love to work metals of all types .
Thank you for allowing a 60 year old man a chance to enjoy and learn your art as an apprentice. I hope to one day be a Master Smith !

Welcome to the ABS and Forum.
Also go to the first page of the ABS web sight click on Bladesmiths, to find smiths who live in your state. Thank about going to some Hammer-in's. You can find these
by clicking on the News tab. If you are completely new to bladesmithing think about going to a school.
Anthony

Thank you sir
Welcome again Michael. Your journey to your goal will be shortened by attending the events sponsored and approved by the ABS. You are joining a network that can and are willing to assist. Like any worthwhile goal, you will have to be willing to travel and spend time putting it into practice. Take advantage of any offers of help but use the resources available here as well.
Lin's post brought something to my mind, that I think is worth expressing.
Becoming a member of the ABS exposes you to an incredible amount of Bladesmithing resources, and to the best Bladesmiths on the planet. That being said, it's up to each individual to go get what is offered.
I felt it worth saying that because I've had a couple of students in recent weeks who have asked the question..... "What can becoming a member of the ABS do for me, and my knifemaking?" My answer is as I stated above, with the caveat being, the ABS does not "spoon feed" it's members. It's up to each individual to do their "home work", and take advantage of what the ABS offers.
I second Lin's advice about attending ABS events..... even after doing this for 30+ years, attending an event always gives me new ideas, reinvigorates me, and I always come back to my shop like everything is brand new.
