Hi,
I'm glad to have finally joined the ABS. This is a very supportive community, and there's lots of great information packed in the forums, videos, and articles.
I'm an electrical engineer, and a hobbyist knifemaker. I started making knives around 1996 when I made a damascus knife in an artmetal class in college. I've worked on knives very sporadically since then--making maybe 10-15 knives (all damascus) since then. I hope to do more now.
In the last 6 years, I've transitioned away from a coal forge to gas and from using a Little Giant power hammer to a hydraulic forging press. I designed and built the hydraulic forging press and a molten salt bath. I've only made 1 knife so far using these, though; but I'm hoping to make several more this year. Most of my free holiday time was spent welding up damascus, and I've probably got enough to last me for the rest of the year.
