Hi Everybody! (now I've got Dr. Nick's voice stuck in my head)

I've been blacksmithing in my spare time for just under 5 years, and forging my own carbon steel damascus for about 4 years, mostly into bottle openers (example photo below) and occasionally into knives for myself, friends and family. Just recently forged my first few stainless damascus billets, and will try out Titanium alloy pattern welding before long. This year I'm planning to focus more on knives, mostly bushcraft, skinners and maybe some kitchen knives, and figured it was finally time to join the ABS. I'm always looking to learn new things, and the forum looks to be a great resource.

On a related note, I'm headed to the local news in a few hours for an interview on my damascus hobby (addiction) on their Central Oregon Makers segment, so if I don't make a complete fool of myself then I'll add a link to the video once it's live as that's probably a good introduction as well.

Cheers,

David Sowards-Emmerd

Thanks Everyone, here's the last two knives I forged, which I might eventually put real handles on: top is a 1080/15N20 4-twist, around 5/16" thick that I use for splitting kindling and oak for the smoker, middle is a 1080/15N20/A203E compound twist, split and sandwiched around a 1095 core), and bottom is the next billet to core with 1095 or CruForgeV - planning on a skeletonized or fullered handle for this one:

and a close up shot of the patterns for the bottom two:

Cheers,

David
