Hi Guys and Gals <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Just wanted to drop in and say hi. I probably wouldn't have posted here without some poking and prodding by a few of you good folks Angi and I got to visit while at the Expo in San Antonio.

I've posted a lot on a few other forums, but I have stuck with just reading whenever I have visited this forum. I've always felt like me posting here was like bringing sand to the beach... a good lot of you guys have forgotten more about bladesmithing than I know. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//blink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

But I promised to swing by here and try to contribute... even if it's just me asking lots of dumb questions to you folks that actually know what you're doing.

Thanks guys <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I for one want to take time to welcome you Nick and encourage your participation. This beach is on very prime ocean front, is excellently groomed and mantained, the lifeguards are on top of things, but it is just getting started so can always use a few more buckets of good sand. Who wouldn't want such a retreat when the other public beaches get over-crowded with rowdy party kids and all you want to do is have have quiet conversation with wth friends over the soft sound of the waves in the sun? <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//wink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Nick -- Dude, you are just tooooooo humble. Such a soft spoken lad without much to say. Ya right! We're all ears my friend, and mighty please to meet ya here! I'm jealous you got to the ABS forged blade event of the year. What did you do, while you were away, with your two behemoths masquerading as dogs? Hope your folks are recovering OK from the fire. -- All the best, Phil

Welcome Nick!!

At least you'll be adding a little higher grade sand than I do.

I hope you share often on this forum, as I have benefited on more than one occasion from the other posting you do <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//wink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Very Humble Intro Nick.

We're not all fine white sand... more like the contents of the swarf bucket, LOL. But we are aspiring nevertheless.

I was gonna drop you a PM to thank you for taking the time to make your EPIC wip with Lorien. I just finished reading it again this morning and for someone at my level It was more helpfull than any of the books in print.

We may be a quiet group but we're out here reading and learning.

Thanks again and welcome to the forum- Josh

Well thanks for the warm welcome guys! <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

I truly appreciate the comments about the WIP threads. Another fella getting something out of them makes it really feel like it was worth the extra work. I always end up with at least one negative email or message when I do those things, and it always gets my goat since I'll be the first one to admit there's another 1 or 10, and probably better, ways to do things.

So thanks for the good words... It makes me want to do another one. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//wink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//biggrin.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Welcome to the ABS Forum, Nick! Everyone is looking forward to your participation.

I created a new sub forum for Work In Progress (WIP) last month on our ABS Forum. I know that if you posted a WIP it would be well received and greatly appreciated by our members.

Welcome aboard Nick. Good to have you around. I look forward to your posts and especially your WIPS. Based on the way things go on this beach, I don't think anyone will be kicking any sand in your face for your contributions. <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//wink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

See ya around!

Rick
