Hello. I'm Jim Collett from Kettle Island, Kentucky. I've been making knives for the past year and a half. I started out with making spike knives and then started the stock removal after a few weeks and have forged blades. I have made quite a few knives, with each knife i make i seem to get better by figuring out what problems i run into from previous knives and fixing them with the next one i make. I still have a long way to go though.
With me its really a pride thing that I can make something from basically nothing but a piece of metal and some wood. I will post some pictures of a few knives i've made and i'd like some info on how to do things better. I'm not making knives for money, although that'd be nice to get some good dollars out of it <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//smile.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> . I do it for the fun of it, and to me i really enjoy making or attempting to make a good knife.
Jim

Thank you sir, glad to be a member.
Welcome Jim
Welcome Jim,
You have just entered into the best forum for help you can get. I am new to forging knives myself and have received some great advice/assistance here. I would recommend finding a MS or JS in your area to help you along. One visit to a MS in my area was like skipping a year of trial and error. Searching the forum also provided a wealth of information. Good luck on your quest.

Thanks Robert.
I have learned a lot from the forum with questions others have asked. I will be going for a visit to an MS as soon as possible, I think the knowledge that they have learned throughout the years is well worth the trip. I hope to get to one day meet all the fine people of this forum.
