Howdy all!

I am completely new to Bladesmithing although I have loved knives my entire life. I have signed up for an Intro to Bladesmithing class and can't wait to get started. I live in North Dakota which seems to be 1200 miles from anyone who forges, if anyone can point me to a bladesmith in my neck of the woods I would greatly appreciate it. I have found all the info in this forum and on the ABS website quite helpful. Thank you to all who share their knowledge and passion for the trade. Also, if there are any books I should be reading about forging and blade design please let me know.

Thanks again!!

Logan

Welcome Logan. Good to have you here on the forum and in the ABS. Sorry I do not know of anybody in North Dakota. Hopefully some others will chime in. You will enjoy the Intro class. You learn so much in those two weeks. If you have any questions we will do our best to answer them.

Welcome again.

Welcome to the ABS!! You're gonna have a lot of fun here. I would look into Wayne Goddard...he has some excellent ways to get started cheap. If you have any questions (which will probably come in multitudes)don't hesitate to ask!! Good luck on your intro with Bladesmithing...you will have a LOT of fun!! Welcome again.

Logan,

Welcome! I attended the Intro Class back in April. Not only was it fun, but it really cuts the learning curve. I highly recommend Joe Keeslar's book Handles and Guards. It's helped me a lot.

Good Luck on your journey!

Bob

Welcome. Any questions? Just ask. Someone will have an answer. As to books and videos. Get them all. You'll never have enough.

Welcome Logan

I have learned a lot from this forum. Also from making a general nuisance of myself to the mastersmiths that I bother from time to time. When I have a problem that is. I only hope when I get to their level I will as gracious as they have been to me.
