Hello all,

I came to the ABS to absorb as much of the knowlege that you all are willing to share, and hopefully help a fellow bladesmith/knife maker out with the little bit that I do know. I started getting into the stock removal method about nine months ago, but dream of one day becoming a Master Bladesmith. I have no experience with an anvil, but thats going to change as soon as possible. Even though my skills are rough at best, knife making is a true passion of mine, and I want to do my part to keep the craft alive.

Until my next post,

Patrick

Welcome to the forum Patrick.

We all have to start somewhere when it comes to forging. Get set up and start by spending time with or watching videos of really good forge guys.

Pick simple projects and practice till you produce them to your satisfaction but set reasonably high standards. Then pick projects a bit harder but not more then you're ready for. Then practice some more.

Take a blacksmith course if possible. This will get allow you plenty of practice and you will learn basic forging techniques.
