My name is Kabe Wolf. I currently reside in Broomfield Colorado, just north of Denver. It's great. I love it out here. I grew up in Northern Utah, north of Salt Lake City. I'm 31 and only getting younger. Life is good.

I finally became a member of the ABS today, and I have to say, it's been a long time coming. It's a truly special day for me. I've wanted to become a Bladesmith since I was 12 years old. My father noticed I had a fascination with knives and came home one day with a 1996-1997 Koval Knives catalog. Shortly after, he ordered me a Cumberland Clip Point knife kit, which came with a "razor" sharp pre-made blade, brass rivets and guard, and my choice of color Dymond wood grips. He had a friend solder in the guard for me, and I shaped the handle until it felt natural in my hand. We had a saddle maker fashion a nice sheath for me and I've cherished it ever since.

I was more than happy with my accomplishment, but I wanted more than just assembling a pre-made blade and sanding a handle down. I wanted to make the blade. So for years now I've had this desire to craft cutting tools from steel and I've had to wait patiently for the justification. I decided I had waited long enough and the Stars had lined up just right, and it had been almost a year to the day since I met that friendly Farrier in a parking lot in -8 degree weather to buy his anvil, so I enrolled in the April Intro to Bladesmithing Class at the Bill Moran School. And I'll tell ya, I couldn't be more excited. I hope there are enough students enrolled to justify having the class. I've thought about forging blades so long that I have literally dreamed about it. And I rarely dream.

I have a mind that wanders like a hobo and more questions about everything than a 6 year old boy missing his front teeth. I hope to get to know as many of you as I can because I am truly inspired by all of you. Creativity and craftsmanship is alive and well, and I tip my cap to each of you.

Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction and I look forward to contributing to the forum.

Hello Kabe and welcome. A lot of good information here on the forum. When you have questions just post them an we will try our best to answer them. You will have a good time at the class. I believe your instructors are Jim Crowell and Tim Potier. They are a good team and a lot of fun. Plus the Spring Hammer In is on the weekend between the two weeks. I will see you at the hammer in.
