And I wanted to say hello. I'm also pretty much brand new to knife making, and haven't gotten set up for forging yet, but I'm on my way! Anyhow, I'm glad to be here.

Welcome Eric. Thank you for joining the ABS and the forum. There is a lot of good information here and if there is something particular, ask away. I look forward to seeing you at a show or a Hammer In.

Eric,

Welcome on board!!! Great to see another Florida Boy around here. You need to plan on making it to a Hammer-In in North Carolina, meet some of the great people that attend. They are all willing to help you and do not be scared to show what you are working on. I showed my humble attempts to bladesmithing to several folks including MS Jerry Fisk. He gave me great feed back and recommended that I get a flatner style tool to help me with my flats. I got it and my work is looking and feeling (he showed me my problems by touching the blade)much better than what I was doing.

All the folks at ABS are very friendly and helpful.

Cindy in the office is great, the Post Office kept eating up all my important ABS mail and she sent out the package with confirmation and by God I got it today.

Glad to have you here.

Warmest regards,

Thanks for the warm welcome folks. I like to use fixed blades, I carry a Barbee, but I love almost all knives. I've been just getting my shop set up, and and learning some basics of welding and cutting with plasma from an old friend and metal artist that lives in Atlanta. He's visiting my area right now to do some work for his mom, and we've been configuring my workshop this weekend. This is sort of a joint effort, we've decided to do this together, such as we can from Atlanta to here. I'm sure he'll be joining up soon.

I'm starting out with the stock removal process for now, since I've spent too much money on my knife collection and tools for my shop lately <img src=' http://www.americanbladesmith.com/ipboard/public/style_emoticons//wink.gi f' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> but I plan on buying an anvil very soon. My friend and I are also going to build our forge soon, and I'm really looking forward to getting to work with the hammer and anvil. I don't know too much yet, but I do plan to attend some kind of hammer-in sometime in the relatively near future. We'll (my buddy and I) probably go to one together, and I love North Carolina, so we'll just have to see! I'm planning to attend Blade in Atlanta this year, so hopefully I'll get to meet some of you there. Thanks again for the welcome, and I look forward to all the awesome that is knife making.

Welcome Eric. Since you are in N. Florida you might want to consider coming to the Batson Bladesmithing Symposium, at Tannehill State Park in Alabama, the 13th thru the 15th of this month. The schedule is posted on this fourm.
