Hey everyone,
I just wanted to drop in and introduce myself. I've been a fan of knife making for about 5 years now...I say fan, because I searched for all the info and books I could find on the subject, bought all of the tools(forge, anvil, tongs, steel, grinder, oven, wood, etc.), then realized that trying to make a good knife without the hands on training just didn't work for me. Video's of the Mastersmith's make it look easy! So, I finally decided to use up all of my vacation and take the two week intro course in Washington, AR. My instructors were Brion Tomberlin, and Mike Williams. I'm here to tell you that I would spend hours every day watching videos and reading books for 5 years, and I learned more in the first day of this class! Brion and Mike were not just good, or even great, they were exceptional. I am honored to be able to get a taste of 30+ years of experience these guys have. Not to sound like a recruitment poster, but if you are toying with the idea of taking the class, DO IT! It is a great experience. I look forward to meeting and seeing everyone at the hammer-ins and shows!
Thanks,

Thank you Stephen, I really appreciate it. It really helps to have enthusiastic students. You all did good. Like you say, taking one of the intro courses will help considerably with the learning curve. From what you all were forging that first day to your blades on Friday, I could see a big improvement. Great to see. I look forward to seeing you all at the hammer in.
Best regards and thank you again.
