I've tried searching the forum and Google, but I'm not coming up with much. Hopefully you guys will get me up to speed.

I bought some pieces of square bar cut from wrought iron fence. I want to use it for finger guards and so forth. I forged a piece down to flat bar. Now it occurs to me I have no idea how to work with this stuff. To show the grain, do I just grind it to shape and sand to (what grit?) then etch it in ferric chloride like damascus?

Anything else I should know about working with wrought iron? Any good tutorials about finishing wrought iron knife parts? Thanks!

Jesse,

Wrought iron was the topic of the month about a year ago. Perhaps this thread will help you out.
