The title pretty much sums it up. I’m putting together a coal forge and wanted to buy some coal from my local TSC, but they don’t have any any stock. I don’t know if it’s just because it’s a seasonal item or what, but I can’t find 40lbs sacks anywhere locally and online prices are ridiculous.
Does anyone have a supplier within an hour drive of Houston? I’d prefer anthracite but will take bituminous. I can even buy bulk if necessary.
I bought my last batch from Penn coal. $15 per 50lb bag but by the time you pay shipping it ends up being about $20/bag. A pallet is about 2500 lbs. . . buy as much as you can and don't worry about the cost. You will be disappointed if you buy cheap coal. Clinkers can be large as cow patties with junk coal and the size of BB's with the good stuff.
