Does anyone know what kind of steel a Superior horse rasp was made from? I've got an old rasp that belonged to my great-granddad. It has to be over 100 years old. Searched the web and no luck so far. Would make a nice, big "Brute de forge"!
Thanks in advance for any info!

Bob, it may be 1095 or 1075. I have a couple of file blanks from the 20's that are 1095, just have not decided what to do with them. I say go ahead and make the knife and test it to see how it does. It would be neat to have an heirloom you made from something of your great grandfathers. Something for the family. Be sure to give us pictures when you get it done,
