A friend of mine gave me some air dried cocabolo yesterday. It's been drying for about eight years. The boards are rough cut and different thickness I will use it in my future knife making.being new at this I need to focus on steel, grinding , heat treat.ect. But should this wood be stabilized before I use it.thanks sincerly,

Scott,

Cocobolo like all rosewoods has too much natural oil to accept stabilizing but doesn't need it. You can use it as is.

Scott, Just make sure you wear at least a dust mask when sanding Cocobola, nasty for the lungs!
